I currently live in S'Agaró and wanted to open a bank account with Caixa since I heard good reviews about them (however, I also have read some not so great reviews re their charges/commission/transfer fees). I went to Platja d'Aro just now, but a man told me their ranch is only open on Thursday afternoons?

Does anyone know a good bank that has more regular opening hours in the greater area around Platja d'Aro?

I opened a Caixa bank account in December and they have taken 87 euros so far in fees and commissions.

I am considering closing it!

Wow! Thank you for your input! Their customer service SUCKS! I've called three times by now and left messages (in Spanish) since they only have voice mail, sent them an email to ask for specific documentation necessary to open a bank a/c (I'm in the process of attaining my NIE), but nothing! Do you have another bank in mind that may be less costly?

I have been using Wise (previously Transferwise) to move money between accounts and am considering applying for their debit card.

You might want to look into it yourself. Their fees are very competitive.

Just in case you might be interested.

Hi Karin,

Sorry, I only just saw your reply now. What is APP?

I was looking at customer service reviews of Spanish banks on the Spanish site of Trust Pilot. Not very comforting, especially if one comes from a country that is bank & financial institutions heavy and customer service (used to be) quite good.

We have had great success with Bankinter over the last 7 years.  They have a full English website as well as a special number to phone for English assistance.

No worries LuckyExpat :)

I’m happy with the CaixaBank, though the fees are high as everywhere.
I think it great to have a Personal Adviser and daily opening hours.

Not many banks have this service now.

Good luck
