Jill,
What sort of connection do you currently have? Is it by a cable which connects into your property or do you have a 4G 'modem' (usually white, possibly saying Huawei-B315 or similar on the back)? What sort of download speeds do you normally get? Does it also provide a 'fixed' (972 nnnnnn) telephone line?
I'm asking because it's possible to buy a SIM from Amazon in the UK which gives you a prepaid data connection where you get 24GB of data for about £40. You could buy a lot of these for €600! When we first moved to Spain, in late December 2016, I used one of these whilst I got myself sorted out. The service wasn't as good as I now have from Movistar & didn't provide a phone line but it was very much cheaper. (As a full-time resident, my requirements are quite different from those of someone here from time to time.)
If you can provide answers to the questions, I'll try to give you an honest appraisal of your options, given that I don't know anything about local Begur suppliers. (My qualifications for doing this are 55 years computer experience, including running a computer network with 2,500 users in Geneva & installing satellite internet & phone links in about 30 developing countries.)
As for the arrival of fibre-optic internet, that's unlikely to have a pay-as-you-go tariff unless there's a lot of competition, so they'll still expect you to pay for all 12 months of the year.
