I hold a British passport and after brexit I want to remain in Spain. I recently made enquiries about applying for residenci here in Spain and was told that after registering on the padron I need to download a document from the UK and complete this and return it, and then I have to show evidence of 5000 euros in my bank account. Has anyone else gone down this route recently? I woud appreciate any information about this.

Last week we received our Residencias by this route, although we were told that there needed to be at least €6000 in the account. You don't mention whether you are retired or not, but as retirees with a UK State Pension we had S1 forms from the UK Social Security Department. (These show that you are entitled to Health Insurance in Spain funded by the UK.) You can't download an S1 and have to apply for them. If you email [email protected] or call +44 191 21 81999 (with your UK National Insurance number) you can find out how to do this.
