Is Tossa suitable for a retired lady on her own?

Having recently lost my partner of 20 years I should now like to fulfil my dream of finding somewhere in the sun to live.

I have read some lovely things on Tossa but wonder how big the expat community is and what kind of a social life I can expect to meet new people?

I’m thinking of renting an apartment in January to come out and look around and so any recommendations on best places to find somewhere to rent would also be extremely helpful.

Hi, saw your post and thought I’d wait to see what replies you had before adding my thoughts...

We are retired and have had our apartment overlooking the old town for ten years, we frequently visit throughout the year and agree Tossa is wonderful.

However, in our experience there’s not an extended ‘ex-pat’ community. Plenty of Catalan and French people but most of the Brits would probably be more likely to be found further north by Palafrugell, L’Escala and Estartit.

There is a U3A group in this area and they arrange plenty of activities all year round.

Good luck in wherever you choose, Catalonia is perfect for living a new life and maybe even Tossa.
