Hi I'm visiting Empuriabrava was there IN Jan 2020.I see a region in North West Catalonia has been shut done due to spike in covid 19 cases. I'm travelling end of July for 6 nights. Is there any sign of an increase in cases in Empuriabrava? Any info would be much appreciated!what do you think my chances of having a few days there are?? Is it mandatory to wear face masks everywhere? (I hope it is)

Hi. I'm in Empuriabrava several times each week (I  live about 6 kms away) and I'm sure you'll be very welcome. There was never a large Covid-19 problem here but it's possible that the return of the tourists will bring an infection or two. As this isn't a very crowded area and few people use public transport, it's unlikely to be a significant problem.

To help you put it in perspective, I believe that Figueres hospital had no Covid-19 cases in the week before last but a 'second wave' of 3 cases last week

As from last Thursday (9th July), masks are obligatory at all times except when inappropriate. (e.g. Eating, exercising, swimming etc.)

Thanks for the info, yeah perfect let's hope the Irish government make a greenlist soon and I hope Spain will be on it!
