The current rules for Catalunya (& for some other parts of Spain) are that you must wear a mask almost all the time when you're outside your home. There are exceptions for restaurants and bars, but I think only when you're actually sitting down. Other exceptions cover the normal sorts of things: exercise inc. swimming, sunbathing on the beach, but not when walking around, medical reasons such as asthma. The rules aren't apparently being actively enforced by the police, but they'd fine you if called in by a third party. I personally don't see many people wearing masks whilst driving, but you're supposed to if you have non-family in the car.

Hope this helps

Hi Debbie - We arrived on Friday 17th July. It appears that face masks need to be worn at all times out in public. I believe this applies to the whole of Catalonia because of the spike near Barcelona.  However, it seems acceptable to remove masks in bars and restaurants which is great.  No one is wearing them on their boats as I assume they are not in close contact with anyone else.  I went for a run this morning and didnt wear one - no one else exercising was wearing one.  So come prepared, but you will need them for going into supermarkets and shops.  Hope that helps.
