Hello my husband and I are planning g a winter holiday in Tossa once covid restrictions are lifted. We plan to drive from England and stay for around 2 months in winter time. Can anyone tell me what weather we can expect please. 😃

Hi, what a lovely idea. We have an apartment over looking the sea in Tossa and often go out of season for months at a time. The weather can be mixed with cold nights and rain but also sunny days nice enough to sit on the beach. There are some bars and restaurants open, particularly during the day, but don’t expect the full range. Winter is a great time to visit some of the other places along the Costa Brava, there are some great villages and Girona is amazing. Last thing, we’ve done lots of different routes when driving, but I prefer the ferry to Bilbao. This allows a visit to San Sebastian and Bilbao and then a shorter drive across Spain to Tossa, about 6 hours.

Have a great time

Hi TnD thanks so much for your reply and helpful advice. One of the reasons for coming over out of season is to see if we like the area with a view to buying a property. Looking at other posts, may be that Tossa de mar area doesn't have many English residents.  Is that true of other towns/villages in costa brava? We are finding it quite difficult to find accommodation around Tossa to rent for month or so with our little dog ....not sure if you can advice on this also.

Appreciate your help 🙂

Hi, hmm not sure about other Brits out of season, certainly none in our area, however, that’s what attracted us. Plenty of Catalans, Spanish and French.

There are other expats in the wider area and using the U3A social group let’s you keep in contact with loads of activities when life returns to normal.

Re renting, not sure but a local company “let’s holidays” could help?

All the best
