We are moving to Calonge in 2023, currently having our home constructed starting this year. So many trips from UK, my wife's parents are residents in Calonge some 30 years why we love the area.

Our catalan architects based in Girona are working on fixtures and finishes with us but we woukd like our raised lounge section in carper as 90% of the floors are ceramic. Any local suppliers of carpet any one can advise greatly appreciated mark & Anita

Hi,

This is unrelated to your request about carpet but my husband & I are planning to relocate to Northern Costa Brava in September 2023 and Calonge is a place we’re considering. Is it an easy place to integrate & live all year round? We’ve also looked at Begur & Palafrugell but property prices seem much steeper in those areas. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Hi I guess if you want to integrate you'll, network like us but we mountain bike so there's clubs etc, there is an ex pat community for sure my wife's parents are in it on the social side. New young couple from the UK moved across from them so we know them now..... We purchased a plot and are having a place built, Mas Toi area, lucky to know the area as well as we do hence the final choice. Brexit is a pain but have just arrived back an hour ago to the mayhem and stress  of the UK can't wait to leave to be honest. We used the agent imisa they have an office on the cabanyes, we using a local architect based in Girona so far so good. Obviously quieter out of season, but still when you know what stays open etc, it's OK, nice to have Sundays back for quality family time, A UK couple are selling up their 3 bed with pool that know us, more traditional style on a ascending plot.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much for getting back to us. We’re both really into tennis so are hoping to meet people through playing. We’re mid 50s so want to be as active as possible. My husband’s hoping to get a nomad visa to work a couple of days remotely for his present company. I think the visa is still in the process of being finalised. This would help us to stay in Spain longer than the 90 day limit whilst we search for a property. It’s true Brexit has really created a lot of challenges to living in Europe but we’re determined to go ahead.😁

Oh brilliant, I used to play club level tennis, long while back now here in MK. There is a club on the way to St Antoni, may be worth a look, and another we have been to for a meal ill try and find the name out.  We feel European so the brexit thing is a nightmare, I'm having to do a business plan to coach, guide mtb to get a work visa, my wife going non lucrative as she is giving up work, but you have to re apply year on year before applying for perm residency great!!! Was going for the golden visa but the property build comes in under the value required less the IVT we are determined, to live and offer something to catalunya no matter how many hoops we have to jump through....... Our build starts next month so I'm sure we'll be back out as soon as possible, be good to keep in touch thanks mark & Anita

It’s good to know you also play tennis. We just play at our local club & hope to try & get some kind of social tennis going once we’re based in the Costa Brava. We’re also hoping to obtain the Golden Visa by buying a property in excess of 500,000 Euros, so it helps with all the paperwork. Any information you could find out for us regarding tennis clubs & other expat groups would be really useful. I’m trying to learn Spanish, I realise Catalan is widely spoken in the Costa Brava but I’ll try & pick that up once we’re there. I’ve been lucky enough to have lived abroad for 17 years in the past & my 2 daughters are half French. I would love to make friends from all nationalities if possible. Good luck with your house build it sounds very exciting. It’d be great to keep in touch.
