Hi, we are bringing our dogs to Llanca for 3 weeks in May and need them treated for tapeworm before we travel back to the UK. Has anyone used the vets in Llanca to do this?

Any vet anywhere in the world can do this in order to meet the UK requirement. Normally, the vet has to stamp the dog's EU Pet Passport with the date and time of the treatment. As you probably know, the treatment MUST be carried out between 24 and 120 hours before entering the UK. So long as the timing works out, a Llanca vet would be fine, but you might have to have it done again if you were delayed en route. (I have seen quite a few people hanging around Calais for 24 hours having had the treatment done there on arrival.)

Thank you. We have now brought our dogs to Llanca and organised a vet to treat the dogs for tapeworm on return. I noticed that your user name is satproff. Do you have any experience of getting satellite channels in Llanca? We think we may need a large dish. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks rose

Hi Rose22,

Yes, I have installed quite a few dishes, both for TV around Geneva, where I used to live, and also all over the world linking remote offices.

Around here, with an 80cm dish, you can get a lot of the Sky channels but some of these, say UK Gold, are only the +1 version, but better than nothing. This is what I have, but I inherited the dish when I moved here 15 months ago. As I could get all the BBC, ITV, and the other 'FreeSat' channels on a 60cm. dish in Geneva, you can imagine that this is a bit of a comedown. People have told me that even 2.4 meter dishes here are not very reliable at receiving Freesat channels, so I haven't bothered. I have an expensive but fairly reliable 4G internet connection and use this to get the few BBC programmes that I really want to see.

If you get Sky in the UK, you might find it worthwhile to get an 80cm dish and a second-hand Sky box for here. You could then simply bring your Sky card with you and you'd get a lot of the Sky channnels you get at home. If you pay for Sky Sports or Movies, you should get most of these, but would need to bring your existing receiver as well as the card. (You wouldn't need a second-hand Sky Box in this case.)

I'll message you with my homr 'phonr no. if you'd like to know more.
