Hello my name is Angela and  I moved to Sant Miquel in September.  I wish to adopt a rescue dog,  an English Setter / Spaniel. Not knowing many people to ask yet, where is the best rescue centre,  and has only one acquired a rescue. I look forward to hearing from some of you....meanwhile stay safe. A

Hello Angela,

There are lots of dogs here that need a home and actually the shelters are full of them of all ages and sizes. You are definitely doing the right thing to adopt and not buy as It is not at all like the UK, where dogs and puppies especially can easily find a home. We have lived here 7 years and currently have 8 dogs, most of which are rescue dogs and the rest came from UK. Two good shelters are Bu Bup Park in La Bisbal, and the protectora animals in Figueres. The normal system is that you pay for the chip and speying, if required. The dogs are essentially free though I leave a donation as the refuges rely on donations. They are always looking for dog walkers as well so if you wanted to spend a bit of time there getting to know the dogs Im sure that would be fine too.

Hello Jamie,  thank you for the information. I will definitely give them a call.

How lovely having 8! Sadly it’s going to be me and a paws as I’m not in a position to

have more.... I’m hoping to meet some locals as soon as this crisis gives a little leeway.  So my thanks again.
