Hi, we have just bought a new build property in Empuriabrava, currently has no telephone/internet or TV.

what is the best route for us to take, who is the best provider, what broadband speeds can we expect, are there any good local installers?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

John

Hi John

We moved to Empuria' last January. Brief research suggested Movistar & Vodaphone were the only two serious candidates. Both use the Movistar network. There's no Cable unfortunately.

We went with Movistar, basically because they own the network. The service is very slow compared to the UK. They say 20-30 upload, you're lucky to get 20 off-peak time!. Upload as low as 0.7!  During peak hours it can sometimes cutout for a few minutes at a time completely.

I know some people use 4G routers as an alternative or as well.

There's little hope of a decent fibre cable network at the moment.

Hope that helps?

Kind regards

Keith

thanks Keith

we have been to prisco electronica in l'escala today, they claim to be able to provide us with usable internet via a small dish; costs from 26eu pcm (4 meg) to 80eu pcm (10 meg)

we will let you know what we decide to do and how it performs.

kind regards

John

Interesting. Movistar €31 for six months, now €64 per months for the ‘up to 30 meg’.

Best of luck with it.

Keith
