Hi all,

My wife and I are thinking of moving to the beautiful Costa Brava but we're concerned about the mosquitoes as we've heard and read that they can be a real problem. My wife is a magnet for them! Can anyone let us know what their experience is with them? Any information about them such as if we should be factoring them in to our decision about where to move (eg is the coast less affected, how many months of the year are they a problem etc) would be much appreciated. I know that there are measures one can take such as installing a mist system etc but I'd like to know your experiences.

Thanks a lot

Greg

Hi,  I take antihistamine tablets for various allergies.  When I get mosquito bites they never swell or itch.

Hi! We bought a house last year just outside Lloret. We loved the green scenery of the area so are learning to live with the mosquitos...

Late afternoon/early evening the worst time in the garden.

Patio where possible

Anti histamine

Cover up when possible

Afterbite pen, Iodine and vicks vapour rub good for soothing bites as is swimming in the sea.

My friend has a place between Malaga and Gibraltar and I've been bit whilst down there too so mozzies are all over.

Hope its helpful!

Thanks very much. Seems like we'll have to live with them.
