Husband Bob (American) and I are planning on buying a little holiday flat in Lloret. The plan is to spend May to October there and the rest of the year in Toulouse, where we now live. We're both retired, and have a nice group of old friends here in France, but we really wouldn't want to spend the 5 months we'd be in Lloret without a social life. So we're hoping to make some friends in the British community. We're coming for a couple of weeks in September to have a little look around, and we'd love to hear from anybody who has some ideas for us.                                                            Many thanks, Jan and Bob

Hello Jan and Bob, I was in Lloret de Mar last year in August and September, and all was fine in August  as all restaurants were open. After Sep 15, many restaurants and other commerce/shops closed as the summer season was over. Lloret de Mar is a town that is geared towards the summer season crowds. Maybe you should consider looking at properties in other Costa Brava towns too, like Sant Feliu de Guixols, or  Platja d'Aro, or L'Escala which have nice beaches too, and the citizens live there year round.

Kind regards,

Paty

Hello Paty, Thanks for the information, but that wouldn't be a problem for us, our plan is to spend June to September in Lloret. Seeing our son and granddaughter more often. But as we're going to be spending 3 or 4 months a year we figured it would be more fun if we could meet other expats while we're there. We'll definitely check out the other places you mentioned. We fixed on Lloret because it seems apartments are much cheaper than other towns on the coast. Again many thanks for your helpful advice.

Best regards Jan and Bob
